Bonnet style windmill

We toured inside a windmill. Small quarters for a family. Back in the day the upper part inside the mill would be smoke-filled from smoking meat and ale. Lard was used to lubricate the wooden rotating mechanisms. Sometimes if the blades were turning too quickly, the friction could cause a fire and all those inside would run for the hills.
